Healthy Hot Chocolate
There’s something so comforting about a warm cup of hot chocolate, but most store-bought mixes or coffee shop versions are packed with refined sugars, dairy fillers, and artificial ingredients. That’s why I love making this nourishing version at home. It’s made with raw cacao for a rich, chocolatey flavor that’s full of antioxidants and minerals like magnesium. I sweeten it naturally with raw honey or coconut sugar, which are gentler on blood sugar than regular white sugar. This cozy drink feels like an indulgence, but it’s actually supporting your body with every sip. It’s the perfect way to treat yourself, without the junk.
Ingredients:
1 cup unsweetened almond milk (or any plant-based milk)
1 tbsp raw cacao powder
1 tsp raw honey or coconut sugar (adjust to taste)
1/2 tsp cinnamon
Pinch of sea salt
1/4 tsp vanilla extract (optional)
A pinch of cayenne pepper (optional)
Instructions:
Warm the almond milk gently over medium heat.
Whisk in cacao powder, cinnamon, sea salt, and vanilla until smooth.
Remove from heat and stir in raw honey or coconut sugar to sweeten naturally.
Add cayenne pepper if you want a spicy kick.
Pour into a mug and savor slowly.
